| Deosai
Plateau separates Baltistan, the home of lofty peaks from
lush green valley of Kashmir. Situated at an average altitude
of 3800 meters, this grassy plateau is the abode of few rear
species of wild life such as Brown Bear, Markhor, Black and
Brown Coats and Marmot.
Crystal clear water lakes are in abundance
with amazing varieties of wild flowers. In the summer, one
can find nomads tending their herds on the plains. Deosai
can also be crossed on horseback. In winter, it offers marvelous
opportunity of cross-country ski.
Driving by four wheel jeep, pass Satpara
Lake, and cross Ali Malik Pass (4082 m) to Kala Pani. Next
day easy hike to Deosai Lake. From here we will drive over
Chachor Pass (4267 m) to Tarishing in Astore Valley and then
to Rama Lake (3482 m) for a day hiking in the area before
driving to Gilgit.
